This companion cube was made from the coordinates from the source files in the game. I assumed Valve used inches as their units, but this ended up a little larger than I expected, so I'm a little unsure if I made the right assumptions about units. There are almost 400 separate pieces in the cube, and all have been backed with craftfuse. It took me over a year off and on to finally finish this project. When I did, my friend Xan made me a portal cake! You can see her holding it. My friend Paul also bought most of us Woot portal shirts at some point in time over the past few years. So we all wore our for our unveiling of the cube at my party. I finished it that day, like a true cosplayer....

The shirt was from woot shirt, and they don't sell it anymore....

And really? How do you know they used miles? Is that their standard for all their games?? It seems impractical for props and people, though totally understandable for their large terrains.

Oh, I thought you like had a source or something....

Game companies usually use a standard unit when building their worlds, and a lot of times US companies will use English Units, but sometimes they use metric, but I couldn't come up with any way in which metric would make sense with the values I was getting from the model. I did some calculations and miles doesn't make sense for the cube either, he'd be 2 feet wide, and that's not right either. I'm pretty sure I'm right, but only Valve knows....
